Whole-Home UV
Ultraviolet disinfection, usually for wells.
An ultraviolet lamp the water passes through on its way into the house. It is the standard answer to a well that has tested positive for bacteria. It does nothing for hardness, iron or taste — it is for one job only.
Best for: Private wells, especially after a positive bacteria test

Why this matters
Remineralization for taste
Reverse osmosis is thorough enough to remove beneficial minerals along with the bad. The alkaline filter puts calcium and magnesium back, which is what stops RO water tasting flat.
UV for biological safety
Ultraviolet light neutralizes bacteria without adding any chemical to your water. Standard practice on well water, and worth having anywhere boil-water notices happen.
